4 Causes for Downtime

In fact, there are many reasons for downtime. Below is an overview of the most common problems.

  1. Faulty hard drives are still a common problem in a local environment, which can cause downtime.
  2. Incorrect or inadequate hosting can also cause regular downtime. For example, if you run a heavy website on a shared hosting-based structure, the chance of downtime will increase enormously. After all, you share resources and server capacity with other users. If you have high requirements webhosting of your website, VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a better and more reliable hosting option. Never save on hosting. Remember, cheap is always expensive buy.
  3. Wear, damage or aging of equipment can also be the cause of a lot of downtime. Computers, hard drives and servers are not immortal at all. In 2010, for example, the massive outage of e-commerce giant Amazon in Europe was caused by hardware failures in Amazon's data center.
  4. Today, hacking also poses a serious threat to business IT continuity, especially as cybercriminals continue to improve their methods. For example, DDoS attacks are a proven method that has caused many companies to experience significant downtime and related costs or reputational damage. DDoS attacks bombard servers with requests. Requests are repeated from multiple locations at once, overloading the attacked web server and eventually terminating the site.
